Company for Research and Development in the Cement Industry

History

CEMKUT Cementipari Kutató-fejlesztő Kft was founded in 1991 by the companies of the cement industry, CEMÜ (Association of the companies) and SZIKKTI (Central Research and Design Institute for the Silicate Industry) based on the Cement Research Department of the latter. In 1994 CEMKUT Kft united with Technocem Kft which was organized in 1990 from the Department of Energetics of SZIKKTI. In 1995 SZIKKTI's Analitical Department then, in 2001, Betonolith Kft joined CEMKUT Kft. The organization evolved this way became capable of performing investigations, research and development tasks as well as expertise related to cement, concrete, lime and other construction materials.

Professional activities

The company's professional activity is basically linked with the ever existing most important directives of the national cement industry which can be grouped according to the following:

• measurements, testing and research aimed at the solution of evident technical tasks and problems arising in the cement industry;
• determination of larger volume - medium and long term - technical research tasks concerning the whole sector including the necessary preparatory and exploring activities;
• support of the activities of the Hungarian Cement Association by technical expertise, active participation in committees and in action programs requiring collaboration within the sector. This includes maintenance of professional contacts with competent specialists, professional argumentation, preparation and support of negotiations with the authorities etc.
• operative cooperation with similar organizations, institutions and professional workshops.

Authorities

CEMKUT Kft is a testing laboratory accredited by the National Accreditation Body (NAT) under No. NAT-1-1249/2004, assigned according to Decree 4/1999. (II.24.) GM (of the Ministry of Economics) under No. 077/2004 and registered for the European Economic Area in Brussels under ID No. 1414.

Scientific activities

Professional skills and experience of CEMKUT Kft's personnel is evidenced by the fact that during the recent years over 50 papers were published by them as authors in international and Hungarian professional journals (International Journal of Mineral Processing; ZKG; Cement and Concrete Composites; Cementipar; Beton; Építőanyag; etc.) while the number of conference papers exceeded 150 (Weimar; Montreal; Budapest, Vienna; Heidelberg etc.). Participation in these international conferences also testify that CEMKUT Kft's scientific results are well proven and are in accordance with the mainstream tendencies of the international progress.

Capabilities

Changing market environment requires the use of high quality construction materials, the erection of high standard buildings and structures. CEMKUT Kft that currently performs - besides testing the various products, basic materials and admixtures of the construction materials industry - also assessment and expertise based on the results of such testing, is capable to perform also quality control testing for other products of the construction materials industry.
