Standardization
The Hungarian Cement Association plays an important role in the standardization activity of the Hungarian cement industry.
This activity involves the following principal fields:
- domestication of the European standards
- development of new national standards
- regular review and improvement of the existing standards.
These tasks are performed in close cooperation with, and within the framework of, the correspondent technical committee of the Hungarian Standardization Body (MSZT/MB).
The Association takes also an active part in the process of European standardization. This work is performed partly through the standardization workgroup of the European Cement Association (CEMBUREAU) which rises the problems first, elaborates and prepares the standard recommendations. As a member of the workgroup, the Hungarian Cement Association has the possibility to represent, from the very beginning, the interests and opinions of the Hungarian cement industry.
Another way for the participation in European standardization processes is through Technical Committee 102 of MSZT/MB. On assignment of this committee, our expert is a member of the Technical Committee "Cements and construction limes" (CEN/TC 51) and one of the workgroups (WG15) of the European Standardization Committee (CEN).
Due to the Association's consistent standardization activities the national cement industry managed and continues to take over within the shortest time the related European standards on products and testing methods. The developed standard testing methods were implemented already in the nineties and have been applied for production and control purposes since then. Following the issue and national implementation of the new cement standards - EN 197-1:2000 and EN 197-2:2000 the Hungarian cement industry created a basis for joining to the product certification system applied in the European Union, which became a reality since the day of Hungary's joining. Publication of the standard EN 197-1:2000 represented a significant step in European standardization since in the field of the construction industry this was the first so-called harmonized standard.
